Dynamic modeling and simulation of a Cheng cycle cogeneration unit
The paper presents a model of a Cheng cycle cogeneration unit. The intended use of the model is in a model predictive control system. The unit model is composed of submodels for each main component. Two approaches are used to derive the submodels: black-box modeling, using experimental data taken from an industrial scale Cheng cycle cogeneration unit operating in closed loop in a cardboard production plant; and white-box modeling, based on fundamental principles like conservation laws and on constitutive equations. Both types of submodels are validated against the available data and then combined to a single "gray-box" model, almost covering the complete cogeneration unit. Reasonable agreement exists between (sub)models and experimental data, suggesting the gross correctness of the model and its submodel

Experimental modeling and simulation of an industrial scale Cheng cycle cogeneration plant
A Cheng cycle cogeneration plant consists of a steam injected gas turbine (STIG) and a heat recovery steam generator. Such a plant can produce both process steam as well as electricity at an adjustable ratio. We have investigated the theoretical modeling of the drum boiler part of the Cheng Cycle. By validation with measured data of an industrial Cheng Cycle Plant, we found that this model captures the essential system dynamics. The data were obtained under normal operating conditions, and a part of the input signal had to be reconstructe
